Phrenology, termed "the only true science of mind" in its day, was a generally accepted pseudo-science of the 19th century. Phrenology was believed to be the next step in the evolution of the four humors. It taught that a person's physiognomy showed moral, intellectual, and social development. It was also used to predict the future, assess a suitor, and evaluate job applications. More than a century later phrenology enjoys a revival of sorts. As the science of body features, it teaches that by observing someone's hands, feet, and face, their mind and soul can be revealed.
